Kuimeaux’s Christian faith was important to him and he enjoyed creating churches in his art. Churches appear as the sole or central subject of four of his drawings and one painting, and as part of townscape or cityscape scenes in at least seven drawings. In this video Kuimeaux (KEE-mo) talks about his Sacred Heart of Jesus Church drawing, which he drew it in 1982 while living in Monroe, Louisiana. What makes it noticeably different from his other church drawings is that it is the only one with the church located on hilly terrain. His sister Linda said it looked like Hot Springs, Arkansas; he responded, yes, but that it could be Vicksburg, Mississippi (located on a high bluff overlooking the Mississippi River). Where is the church located? Watch the video and find out.
This video was produced in 2023 from footage shot in 2015 in Sherwood, Arkansas at the home of Kuimeaux’s sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dan McInturff. It is presented in loving memory of Kuimeaux.
